Selecting the best option for you will depend on a couple of factors, such as the space you have to store it, your fitness needs and which features you look for in a bike. Not to worry, we’ve included a handy buyer’s guide at the end of the review to make sure you make a well-informed decision before buying your bike!

1. Exerpeutic WorkFit 1000 Fully Adjustable Desk Folding Exercise Bike

If your schedule is a bit hectic and you can’t afford to dedicate time to training, this bike is perfect for you! You’ll be able to get all your work done while you pedal away. The seat is adjustable so you can stand or sit while working out.

The bike also has eight magnetic resistance levels, making it a true gem for under £200. One thing that stood out is the fact that this fold-away bike caters to taller folks too. The Exerpeutic WorkFit 1000 is also very easy to fold and put away. Whether you prefer pedalling while upright or sitting down and getting a bit of work done, you’ll love exercising on this great piece of equipment. Take it from us, this is a great buy!

ProsCons
  • Has eight resistance levels
  • Built-in backrest makes working while cycling more comfortable
  • Track your progress with the clean LCD
  • More suited for beginners

2. Exerpeutic (EXER6) Unisex 400XL Folding Pulse Recumbent Exercise Bike

Second on our list is the baby brother (or sister) of the Exerpeutic WorkFit 1000. It does not include a desk, but it works on the same principle and uses magnetic resistance for a comprehensive cardio workout. You don’t have to worry about its noise levels, as it runs smoothly and quietly while you pedal away.

The weight capacity of the Exerpeutic Unisex 400XL is 136 kg, making it a strong and sturdy fold-away bike. It also has pulse sensors on the handlebars which track all your vital stats and keep you on your fitness targets. We did find this model a bit more difficult to assemble, but other than that, we rate it as a good buy!

ProsCons
  • Very easy to transport thanks to the wheels
  • Folds and stores easily
  • Very comfortable seat
  • Difficult to assemble

3. Ultrasport F-Bike Home Trainer

Next, we have the Ultrasport F-Bike, a very popular pick among exercise bikes. If you are a bit on the tall side, however, you might not benefit from this fold away exercise bike. The design is practical while the frame of the bike is sturdy and durable. It also does not take up a lot of space and folds and stores very easily.

Make sure you meet your fitness goals and stay motivated by using the advanced pulse sensors and handy LCD screen. All your vital stats are tracked while you are busy pedalling, ensuring you know what you achieve after every session. With eight resistance levels, you’ll be able to focus on cardio and strengthen key muscle groups too. A great bike at a great price, indeed!

ProsCons
  • Compact and stylish design
  • Track all your stats with the state-of-the-art pulse monitor
  • Folding mechanism makes folding and storage a breeze
  • Design is impractical for taller people

4. Finether Exercise Bike

Our next recommendation is the Finether magnetic resistance exercise bike. We found the frame and construction to be very sturdy and pleasing while the seat was also thick and comfy. Easily work your way through all the eight resistance levels as you continue training and increasing your endurance and strength.

The levelling stabiliser endcaps keep the bike nice and stable while you exercise. It also has an LCD screen and pulse sensors in the handlebars, which provide real-time feedback on your vital stats. We did find the LCD to be a bit simplistic regarding design, but it gets the job done. The Finether Exercise Bike is very safe and sturdy. It also keeps quiet as a mouse while you pedal your heart out.

ProsCons
  • Sturdy construction that is durable
  • Smooth magnetic tension control system with eight resistance levels
  • Detachable LCD monitor that measures your progress and vital stats
  • LCD is too simple

5. XS Sports Magnetic Foldable Folding Exercise Bike

Our final recommendation is the XS Sports Magnetic fold-away exercise bike. We love this fold-away exercise bike for many reasons. First, assembly and storage are very easy. It also has pulse sensors that keep track of your progress as you pedal. The structure, however, is not too sturdy when compared to other models we’ve discussed.

We found the adjustable seat to be comfortable enough, and you will be able to get some serious training done with the handy foot straps that keep your feet secure. And of course, the magnetic resistance can be increased or decreased as you wish by selecting the “+” or “–“ icons on the dial. Not the very best or our personal favourite, but still a good bike at a great price!

ProsCons
  • Easy to assemble
  • Includes foot straps to keep your feet secure while cycling
  • Folds and stores easily
  • Pulse sensors on the handles measure your heart rate as you cycle
  • Structure is a bit unstable

Buyer’s Guide: How to Select the Best Fold-Away Exercise Bike

buyers guide 1 img 1 - Best Fold Away Exercise Bike For Under £200

Now, if you want to buy a foldable exercise bike, you need to establish your fitness goals. Are you adding one to your home gym to complete your gym setup? Are you just looking for an easy way to lose some weight without joining a fitness centre? Perhaps you are a professional athlete who would like to incorporate this into your daily workout routine.

Once you’ve narrowed down your needs, you’ll have see whether or not the bike you are eyeballing fits in with some of the pointers we discuss below.

1. Flashy Features

There are loads of options to choose from even when you are working with a limited budget. Some fold away exercise bikes have very advanced features, but don’t let that take your eyes off the prize. You need to focus on functional features such as resistance levels, build and comfort. For example, the seat should be able to be adjusted easily.

2. Weight Limit and Weight

A good indication of the durability of a fold-away bike is its weight capacity and the weight of the bike itself. Bikes that have a lower weight capacity and weighs less tend to be unstable. In order for you to workout safely, the bike you end up buying should be stable and sturdy.

3. Added Extras

This might not be at the top of the list, but sometimes juicy extras can be the key to keeping you motivated to reach your goals. The majority of exercise bikes nowadays come with built-in LCD screens and pulse monitors. Some even have built-in fans to keep you cool while working out. These are all optional but can come in handy.

4. Smooth or Noisy?

Be sure to check whether or not the bike delivers a smooth ride or if it’s noisy. This is obviously not a deal breaker for most, but if you live with other people, a noisy bike might be a bit annoying and could even end up causing conflict.

5. Ease of Assembly

When you order a fold-away bike online, you are going to have to assemble it at home once it is delivered. Be sure to double-check that the model you order comes with assembly instructions and that it is not difficult to assemble by yourself. This will also ensure that you can start using your new piece of equipment sooner.

6. Different Types of Exercise Bikes

As you may well know, there are plenty of different types of exercise bikes out there. If you a beginner, you might find yourself lost. We’ve included a handy breakdown of some of the most common types of exercise bikes out there.

We specifically take a look at the different types of resistance. Understanding the inner workings of the best fold-away exercise bikes is the key to making the right purchase.

buyers guide 2 img 1 - Best Fold Away Exercise Bike For Under £200

Fan-Based Resistance

These are not as common as magnetic resistance exercise bikes, but they still deliver the goods. Fan-based resistance bikes run on a large resistance fan that is connected to the pedals via a belt and pulley. As you pedal, the fan starts to rotate and build resistance. Pedalling faster will give more resistance than pedalling slower. One great benefit of this type of exercise bike is that the fan blows as you pedal, cooling you down while you train.

Magnetic Resistance

If you are looking to get an exercise bike that’s going to last a lifetime, a magnetic resistance bike is your best option. As opposed to traditional direct contact resistance bikes, these are less prone to wear and tear. This is thanks to the fact that there is no friction or direct contact involved in generating resistance. All the resistance you need is provided through electromagnetic induction. These bikes are also less noisy than their older counterparts. There’s nothing but smooth spinning all the way with a magnetic resistance bike.

Direct Contact Resistance

The more traditional type of exercise bike runs on direct contact resistance. These bikes work on a direct contact braking basis and use friction to cause resistance. A brake is applied to the flywheel which then recuses the rotational speed as you pedal. As far as accuracy and workout quality goes, these bikes are great. They do, however, wear down over time if used frequently, and they are also noisier than other types of bikes.

Conclusion

That concludes our review of the best fold-away exercise bikes. Remember to take note of the weight capacity and actual weight of the bike you wish to buy before making a purchase. Stability and safety should always be your priority. You won’t get a lot of pedalling done if you injure yourself!
