The front of a supplement bottle is marketing; the nutrition panel is a contract. Ghost Fitness reads the panel. Each page takes one question people who train actually ask, gives the direct answer first, then shows the elemental amounts, the %NRV, the doses the research used, and the price divided by the days a bottle lasts. Claims are limited to the wording authorised in the UK, and research is described as research.

- What are the potential side effects of taking omega-3 fish oil?Omega-3. The leaflet a shelf softgel would carry, by frequency at one standard softgel a day. Very common, more than one in ten: nothing. Common, one in ten to one in a hundred: belching, when the softgel is taken on an empty stomach. Uncommon, one in a hundred to one in a thousand: nausea when fasted, a fishy aftertaste. Rare at the standard dose and dose-related above it: loose or greasy stools at two grams and up, easier bruising and a longer-bleeding nick at three grams and up, and the atrial fibrillation signal at four grams. Not seen at any dose studied: liver injury, kidney harm, weight gain, hair or skin effects, mood or hormone changes. The interactions line reads anticoagulants at a gram or more and orlistat. The overdose line reads five grams as the safe level. A leaflet, by frequency.
- What does fish oil do for your stomach?Omega-3. Three prepositions. In the stomach: a softgel dissolves within minutes and its oil either floats on top of an empty stomach's contents, beneath the sphincter, or mixes into a meal and is held down and emptied with it, which is the entire difference between a burp and no burp. To the stomach: a gram of fat slows gastric emptying a little, as any fat in a meal does, which is why the softgel goes with a meal and not in the hour before a session, and it does not irritate the lining, raise acid or carry an ulcer risk. For the stomach: nothing, since there is no omega-3 file for peptic ulcers, gastritis, Helicobacter, reflux disease, functional indigestion or irritable bowel syndrome, and no register claim mentions the stomach or digestion. So the relationship is a timing rule, mid-meal, and a reader with a stomach problem has a GP and not a softgel. Three prepositions.
- Does fish oil help flatten the stomach?Omega-3. By the four layers. Subcutaneous fat, the layer under the skin that hides the muscle: moved only by a sustained calorie deficit, and the systematic reviews find no weight, fat or waist change on fish oil at any dose. Visceral fat, around the organs, the layer that pushes a stomach out: moved by a deficit, aerobic exercise even without weight loss, sleep and less alcohol, and not by fish oil in the trials that imaged it. Distension, the day-to-day bloat of gut contents, gas and fluid: moved by fibre, lactose, sweeteners, salt and meal timing, and not by an oil the colon does not ferment, a softgel being nine calories and no gas. The abdominal wall, whose tone and posture hold everything in: moved by training. Fish oil moves none of the four, and the flat stomach is the deficit's, the cardio's and the training's. Four layers.
- What to avoid while taking fish oil?Omega-3. Six things to avoid, and a long list you need not. Avoid taking it fasted, which floats the oil and burps it, the fix being the middle of a meal. Avoid lying down within two hours, which refluxes it. Avoid peppermint after it, which relaxes the sphincter. Avoid heat, light and an open lid for the tub, which oxidise the oil, so cool, dark, closed and finished within months. Avoid stacking gram doses on an anticoagulant or dual antiplatelets without the clinician told, since bleeding time lengthens slightly at a gram or more. Avoid stacking cod liver oil with a multivitamin or a vitamin A supplement, which adds up toward the vitamin A ceiling. And the list you need not avoid: alcohol in moderation, coffee, creatine, protein, vitamin D, magnesium, statins and most medicines, training on the day, and fish on the plate. Six and a long list.
- How quickly can you raise omega-3 levels?Omega-3. A slope and a finish line. The dose sets the slope: the omega-3 index, the share of EPA and DHA in red-cell membranes, rises each month by an amount set by the daily intake, a standard softgel adding roughly a point over a season, a gram a day adding three or four and taking a typical four percent toward the research range around eight. Red-cell turnover sets the finish line: red cells are replaced a quarter a month, so every dose reaches its plateau at three to four months and none reaches it sooner, a bigger dose making the slope steeper and not the finish line nearer. Plasma levels rise within days, but they are not the level a test reports or the body stores. So the fastest possible rise is the steepest sensible slope, a gram a day, to the same finish line, a season away. Slope and finish line.
- How do I know if my body needs omega-3?Omega-3. The body will not tell you, and the plate will. Low omega-3 status is silent: the omega-3 index can sit at four percent on a British plate for a lifetime with no symptom, sign or feeling that marks it, the dry skin, tiredness and poor concentration lists on the shelf belonging to other causes, and the true clinical essential fatty acid deficiency being rare, seen in fat-free feeding and severe malabsorption, and a clinician's. So the need is read off two questions. One: how many portions of oily fish a week does the plate carry, two portions averaging around 450mg of EPA and DHA a day and meeting the 250mg the claims are written for, fewer leaving it unmet and one softgel meeting it. Two: is there a specific reason for more, pregnancy for the maternal DHA claim, a GP's triglyceride plan, or a wish for the index research range. And the only way the body itself answers is a finger-prick index test. The plate, not the body.
- What does fish oil do for muscle recovery?Omega-3. Along the timeline. The first hours after a session: nothing, since EPA and DHA build into membranes over months and a softgel taken that day has reached nowhere, the acute recovery window belonging to protein, carbohydrate, fluid and sleep. Twenty-four to seventy-two hours, the soreness peak: perceived soreness a point or so lower on a ten-point scale, if two to three grams a day have been taken for weeks or months beforehand, the review's finding, a curve shifted down rather than left. The return of strength and function: unchanged at every point on the curve, the muscle back to full strength on the same day with or without the oil. The training week: nothing, no faster readiness for the next session. The season: an omega-3 index built over three to four months, which is not recovery. One small shift in how sore, none in how soon. The timeline.
- Is omega-3 important for muscle growth?Omega-3. By the three meanings of important. Necessary: yes, at the floor. Every membrane in a muscle fibre carries some omega-3, and a true essential fatty acid deficiency, seen in fat-free feeding and severe malabsorption, stops growth along with everything else, but the floor is cleared by any diet with a little fat in it and is not where any lifter is. Sufficient: no, since no intake of omega-3 builds muscle on its own, the muscle being built by training, protein and a surplus. Helpful above the floor: no, since the randomised trials that added omega-3 to resistance training in trained adults found no more growth or strength on a gram a day than on placebo, and no register claim mentions muscle. So omega-3 is important for muscle growth the way water is, necessary at a floor everyone clears and irrelevant above it. Three meanings.
- How to avoid fish burps from fish oil?Omega-3. A shopping checklist, because the behaviour protocol is on other pages and half of burping is decided at the checkout. One: a stated triglyceride or re-esterified triglyceride form, which many users find sits better than an unstated ethyl ester and which oxidises more slowly. Two: freshness, a stated oxidation value or a recent manufacture date, and a tub small enough to finish within two or three months of opening, since a rancid oil burps all day whatever the timing. Three: softgel size, 500mg or 1000mg rather than 1200mg or 1400mg, a smaller bolus relaxing the sphincter less. Four: a lemon-flavoured or odour-controlled oil, for what the rare burp carries. Five: an enteric coat, only for the reader the first four do not fix, at a premium. And the free line every product needs: the middle of a meal. A checklist.
- What is the minimum EPA and DHA for the heart health claim?Omega-3. Two numbers, not one. The daily number: the authorised claim, EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, carries a condition of use that the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of EPA and DHA combined, and the consumer must be given that information, so 250mg a day is the minimum intake for the claim's effect. The label number: the claim may be used only on a food that is at least a source of omega-3 fatty acids, which for EPA and DHA means at least 40mg combined per 100g and per 100kcal, the threshold a product must clear before it may carry the claim at all, and which any fish oil softgel clears many times over. A standard 1000mg softgel carrying 300mg meets the daily number on its own; a 150mg softgel needs two; and a product that carries the claim but not the daily amount must say so. Two numbers.
- Does fish oil reduce DOMS?Omega-3. The repeated-bout effect is the missing half. The trials: the review finds perceived soreness a point or so lower on a ten-point scale at two to three grams of EPA and DHA a day taken for weeks or months before a damaging session, with no faster return of strength. What the trials used: novel, eccentric-heavy protocols, downhill running, drop jumps, eccentric curls to failure, in mostly untrained participants, which produce the marked soreness a first exposure produces. What the repeated-bout effect does: a repeat of the same exercise within weeks produces far less soreness, the protection lasting months, so a trained lifter on a familiar programme has little DOMS to begin with. So fish oil reduces the DOMS of a novel session a little at high rungs after weeks, and a habitual programme leaves it almost nothing to reduce, the footnote applying to the new exercise, the return from a deload and the unaccustomed volume. The missing half.
- Does omega-3 help joint pain from heavy lifting?Omega-3. Joint by joint. The knee: patellar tendon pain in the squat, a tendinopathy fixed by progressive loading and volume adjustment. The shoulder: rotator cuff and joint pain in the press and the bench, fixed by technique, grip width, cuff work and load. The elbow: tendon insertion pain at the bench, the curl and the press, a tendinopathy again. The wrist: the rack position and the front squat, a mobility and wrist-position fix. The hip: the deep squat and the deadlift, a depth, stance and load fix, with a pinch that persists imaged. Every one is a load-management problem, progressive tendon loading, technique and volume outperforming rest and passive treatments in the trials, and no supplement, omega-3 included, alters the course.
