What is magnesium bisglycinate, exactly?

Magnesium bisglycinate is magnesium bound to two molecules of glycine, an amino acid, forming a chelate: a mineral wrapped in an organic carrier that the gut absorbs through amino acid pathways as well as the mineral's own.
