Futuro Labs Omega 3 Fish Oil: label, EPA DHA and cost per day

What one softgel gives you, and why the 300mg line matters

A fish oil label has two numbers and most people read the wrong one. 1000mg is the oil; 300mg is the part that matters, the EPA and DHA. Futuro Labs Omega 3 gives 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA in each mini softgel, 300mg combined, and the directions are 1 softgel a day. That single number decides which authorised claims the product can carry. EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart when the daily amount is at least 250mg, so one softgel clears that bar. DHA on its own contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision only at 250mg of DHA a day; one softgel gives 120mg, so those two claims do not apply at the labelled dose, and this site does not use them.

Format, testing and where it is made

The softgel is a mini softgel, positioned as easy to swallow with no fishy taste or fishy burps, and the product is independently lab tested for purity and made in the UK under GMP. The label carries the company address: Futuro Lab Supplements Ltd, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. It is a fish product in a gelatin softgel, so it is not vegetarian or vegan. The label says not to exceed 6 in 24 hours and not to use it if pregnant, nursing or taking other medications without checking first.
