Hi, my name is Tom Buckland and I’m the owner of Ghost Fitness. I wanted to write this introductory post to talk about why we created Ghost, our aims, the future of the company and what we do.
Why Ghost Fitness was created
Ghost Fitness was created due to a mix of 2 things. 1.) My personal passion in fitness. 2.) Entrepreneurial spirit. I’ll save you the long spiel but to put it in short. I was one of the 20 something University students that was extremely bored with their course and knew my time was better spent. I was an entrepreneur not a student and I didn’t want a job either. What’s the point of working (studying) for 4 years to get a job that starts on £20-30k a year? Why not work for 4 years on a business and if you know what you’re doing and have the drive to achieve, there is no reason why in less than 4 years time you can’t create £2-3 million a year.
So that’s what I did.
I initially started in the marketing industry as this was my background, this allowed me to quit my job in 6 months and focus on my business full time.
In August 2015 I launched Ghost-Fitness.
I knew that this was a risk as I only had around £2,000 to invest. 90% of which was going into stock. But I knew my business plan was strong and my mindset was right.
Anyway the business was launched.
Although we are still in the early days, owning a fitness company is amazing. Mixing all 3 of my skills and passions; fitness, marketing and business. I’d highly recommend taking the leap to becoming an entrepreneur, if you have the mindset and the passion there is nothing that will stop you.
What We Do
As you probably already know, Ghost-Fitness provides gym & fitness accessories to the gym rats amongst us. We wanted to utilise Amazon as our distribution network, so we could focus on design, development and keeping our prices as low as possible. This is why 90% of packing & distribution is done by Amazon, so individuals can get a better price with free 1 day delivery AND we can spend our time researching and developing, which is what we prefer to do anyway. It’s a win-win situation.
The Future of the Company
I don’t believe in having a rigid future for a business. It’s important to test what works and what doesn’t and scale up the winners and ditch the losers. Saying this, there are a number of angles we would like to eventually target in the fitness industry.
Leader in UK gym accessories – The initial aim was to be leader in the gym accessories niche, the go-to brand for anything that “you would put in a gym bag”. Obviously this varies for everyone but we wanted to target the individuals already committed to their fitness and looking to perform as highly as possible.
Thanks for reading.
